Impressed : Slow glow lamp

I had very little time the past few weeks, so this will be a very quick post. It's something I saw at Droog Hôtel (a really nice design place with a clothing & designshop and a small restaurant, the food is ok, the portion is small compared with the pricing, but the coffee is perfect and the cakes delicious)  in Amsterdam. The idea of this lighting design remains in my mind since I saw it. It's a conceptual mix of old and new and a rethinking of the use of your material : a bulb filled with candlewax and the warmer the lighting gets the more fluid the candlewax, which results in a gentle growing illumination.

I will be off for some weeks, it's time for holidays!Heyheyhurray!

TechCheck : Lapka

Design- and material-wise this object, Lapka, is very attractive to me. And if I understand the explanation well; the purpose seems to be an enlargement of our senses - but do I understand it well?

I think it would be great if this device gives an experience to sounds or tremblings (or humid air) which we never pay attention too... this would only be the case if I understand it well :).

For 220 euros it would be mine, but I don't have an iPhone and it's only compatible with Apple devices. :( Oh well at least it looks good, let's enjoy that for now.

Something for the Weekend : The Knife

Last Sunday I went to Shaking the Habitual' (non)concert/performance by The Knife in Brussels and I was completely amazed! I must say I am a huge fan, so only a not show would temper my enthousiasm, but still : It was so great!
So here for you and for me, something for the weekend, a long weekend in my case. Tomorrow morning I'm heading to Amsterdam (silent shout).
